Sex Sells

Recently, there was a charity event which seemed to have caused a little stir, at least this is how I see it judging from the forum I read everyday at work. 1 of the highlights of this charity event is the 'kiss a celebrity' event which allows anyone who pays $10 (which proceeds to charity) to kiss either Elvin Ng or Jade Seah. Just a simple kiss on the cheeks or lips I guess, but definitely no french kissing or anything funny.

Would u pay $10 to kiss them?

Jade Seah

I might consider kissing Elvin if I were a girl but I would definitely not pay to kiss Jade. Maybe she should pay to kiss me instead!

Conservative thinking people have termed this event as a disgrace or a sign that encourages sex which I find totally ridiculous. I would understand if someone is paying to french kiss or go further. But a peck on the cheeks with the money going to charity? No way. And when u think about how many celebrities would actually agree to be kissed by absolute strangers, u get the picture. I don't think it's fun sitting down on a chair for a couple of hours while all kinds of strangers, some with bad breath, dirty lips, oily mouths or whatever take turns to plant kisses all over your face. Several facial companies would surely have been fighting to be the event's sponsor for providing facial for these 2 celebrities!

Back to the topic. Singapore may seem like a suburban and open minded country alike America or even Australia but the fact is that there are still many ridiculously conservative people around. What's ironic is that these people who often goes "eeeks so shameful lah, touch here and there in public" are also doing it themselves without realizing it.

What prompts those kind of comments can only boil down to 1 thing - the Singaporean mentality. So much for all these public stunts to discourage pre-marital sex or underage sex when sex is being sold like hotcakes.

Sex sells! Yes, why not? If sex doesn't sells, why do guys bother to buy those FHMs or Maxims? Why do girls attend beach parties or manhunt events? Why are prositutes continuing to pile all over red light districts? Why are there strip clubs in the world? Blame it on lust and society. Put these 2 words together and u get a nice answer...

Society drives people crazy with lust and calls it advertising.

And finally, I wouldn't pay to kiss Jade Seah because she simply isn't a stunner, not even a 8. She's at most a 7 and isn't worth parting company with $10 to plant a kiss on. If we're talking about local celebrities, there are 2 faces or lips I'd definitely consider though.

Life is short

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Today in office I happened to be on the topic of illness and life's unseen pain. It makes me realize how short, fragile and unpredictable life could be. Suddenly I feel my life isn't all sufferings and scars, there are people worse off than me, there are people with extremely bright futures having their lives taken away cruelly and there are others who wish they were in my shoes. Many times I've wondered why my life is so stucked up and cruel, why god gave me things which I don't want and feel I don't deserved. I realized it's all part of life today.

Life is too short to be unhappy, we never know what is going to happen in the future, so why not enjoy and savour the moment? Who knows tomorrow I won't be around? I'm really tired after a long day to blog any longer, but I will just say what I feel, that life is all about happiness. As long ur happy, thats all it matters. Living in this unpredictable and cruel world, we just don't know when we have the chance to be happy taken out of our gasp.

5 Things I wish would go extinct

It's a beautiful Saturday morning, I've finally had a proper night of sleep after that exhausting Bangkok trip and I feel really good right now. Today's gonna be a rest and recuperate day spent at home and in the gym in preparation for tomorrow's soccer match at Marseiling. I think I'm severely lacking fitness as usual after a trip in which I spent every night partying and drinking. I've conjured up some thoughts in mind - 5 things I wish would go extinct. They are listed from the bad to the worst.....

Insensitive People - I grown really tired of people who do things without sparing a thought for anything else. Granted one can't expect everyone to think about others' all the time or one wouldn't have time for himself/herself. But the least one could do is to be more sensitive towards others' feelings. If u're in a group where there's someone who can't swim, suggesting going swimming or water activities really makes u a selfish asshole. Humans are all selfish, remember? People don't seem to realize that sometimes what they say can be really hurtful or provoke offence in others.

Irresponsibility - This is something that happens all the time that's really sickening. From a jackass screwing up his girl and then dumping her when 9 months of adversity becons to people who appear when the fruits are ripe and disappear when the season is dry, there are examples aplenty. People who shirk responsibility are really cowardly bastards who tend to show too much but do too little.

Liars - I condemn liars totally. They are no different from irresponsible people but the fact that sets them apart from irresponsible people to a much higher and harted scale is their tendency to lie for inapparent reasons. The ones who lie when there simply isn't a need to are really an irritation to society. The ones who lie for dishonest and despicable means should really be banished from this world.

'Judges' - If there's one kind of person which there isn't a shortage of, it is the 'judges'. Why is it that people love to judge others so much based on what they see and not what they know and yet somehow ironically, they dislike being judged by others? I don't think I need to point out what kind of feeling it is when someone think you are this or that based on what they see. Humans are sometimes very superficial because of this. If everyone thinks they are right based on what they see then everyone would have been geniuses or great fortune tellers.

2 Headed Snakes - There are definitely an awful lot of 'actors' around worthly of an oscars. Maybe it's because the way the society is, acting is a must in order to survive. I'm really disgusted with 2 faced people or 2 headed snakes - no matter what u call them - they are by far the worst of the lot. The world would be alot nicer without them and their awful actions of - acting, deceits, back-stabbings and hypocrite-ness. Enough said.

Some days are grey

And so I'm back from Bangkok for the second time in 2 months. Well it was a trip to forget, there were so many disappointments but I should have seen it coming right from the start where our flight was delayed for a good 1 hour 30 mins the moment we entered the gates - which also mean we didnt even had time to meet Jeri who had come all the way from the west to see us off.

I guess some days are just meant to be grey afterall, this entire trip of 6 person seem like a triangle, we were more than often divided into sub groups of 3 - 2 - 1, and u get the picture i believe. Yes I was the '1' and being a positive person, i prefer to see it was an adventure and indeed it was. Going out alone, eating alone, traveling in a foriegn country alone can be quite a thrill although at times u have to watch your security and be cautious. I had my fair share of stories to tell from the times I travelled around alone....

1. There was this taxi driver who spoke extremely limited english and misunderstood that I wanted to visit a massage parlour and he started telling me enthusiastically that the place has big boobies girls and so on. As I'm not a total newbie, I know the roads and when I realized he wasn't going to the shopping mall I wannted, I told him he either make a u-turn or I get out of the cab. I won, and he reluctantly drove me to my shopping mall instead of the stupid massage centre.

2. I was in a libary of a university (yes u wont believe that) waiting for my friend to end her class when I found myself surrounded by hotties and all sorts of thai books, newspapers and magazines. I realized that I indeed resembles a thai as long I dont dress up too nicely. Nobody hardly blink an eye lid and the librarian actually spoke to me in Thai. Of course I couldn't understand her. I nod and walk off.

3. I had just had a hungarian dinner and was about to walk to a bar when it started to rain again. Running for the nearest shelter, my relief turned into irritation when I realized I had stepped in between 2 freelancers (streetwalkers). The first one only smile to me, to which I smile back (u have to smile in thailand). The second one smile to me and started asking me the usual questions....

(the conversation was long winded, i shall just write the key parts)
Her: Where u from?
Me: Japan
Her: wow, u first time come here?
Me: No, many times
Her: I like u, u cute
Me: (Laughing) haha no i'm just normal
Her: Where u going?
Me: To find my friends at bla bla bla place
Her: But now raining
Me: Yeah I know
Her: u go with me?
Me: go where?
Her: (pointing beside her) hotel
Me: -_- no
Her: Why?
Me: (pointing to my watch) no time, i have to meet my friends
Her: For short time only, very fast
Me: No
Her: (showing me the pitiful face and starting to grab my arms) Very fast only....
Me: Cannot la, my friends are waiting for me (push her hands away)
Her: But I like u
Me: But I dont like u...really cannot la
Her: $1500 bahts only
Me: No
Her: $1200
Me: (shakes head, continue smoking)
Her: $1000
Me: (looking at her) really cannot, i have to go after i finish this cigarette
Her: (sad look)
Me: (act dumb)
Her: ok u come with me, for 10 minutes only, to talk ok?
Me: Pay the hotel to talk to u? We talk here ok?
Her: no no very fast only (keep pulling me)
Me: (finished my cig) no i have to go already, sorry, u find other guy ok...bye (rush off in the drizzle to grab a cab)

4. I was sitting in a beer bar watching the world unfold in front of me. Yes the infamous naughty nightlife of Bangkok. The bar was in front of the enterance of Nana Plaza, 1 of the infamous gogo bar locations. There were freelancers all over the streets, peddlers, beggars and all sorts of amazing things going on, there was even an elephant! It was fantastic to do 'people watching' here. Beside me, there was a ang moh couple. After awhile I realized his girlfriend look really disgusted. When his gf went to the loo (i guess so), the guy started asking me the usual "where r u from" question. I found out he was Croatian. Then he said something......."I wished I had come to Bangkok alone without my gf....!" Enough said....

These 5 days passes alot slower than the previous 4 days I spent in September, maybe due to lesser visits of those tourists places especially temples which can be time consuming. I also finally took a TukTuk and the experience wasn't really nice, I figured out I could get lung cancer if I sat on this TukTuk everyday. The air from the exhausts of all the vehicles was very terrible!

I've also finally took a motorcycle taxi. It was a forced circumstance. I was later to get back to my hotel. I had only 10minutes to reach the hotel and the whole road was jam packed with vehicles. I could walk and would reach faster than taking a taxi but I would still be late. Thats where the motor cycle taxi came to my mind. I approched one, negogiated a price with him and we sped off. Yes I'm certain we sped, zig zag, s curves, u name it he did it and all these while I had no helmet on and I was holding stuffs with 1 hand and using my other hand to hold onto the back of the bike. My kness and legs were at times just inches away from bumping into vehicles. We cut through the entire traffic and reached my hotel on time within 4 minutes when a taxi ride would take about 30 minutes! Amazing!

I've also realized afew things from this trip...

1. Thai girls like my eyes. I get quite afew compliments from totally unknown strangers telling me I have nice/beautiful eyes. To which I said Khop Kun Krup (thank u)

2. Taxi drivers will always try to get u to those dirty massage parlours where u will almost certainly get ripped off. If u have a girl with u, they will try to take u to some gems shop instead.

3. Thai people love to live together in big groups. Thy fear being lonely.

4. Thai waitress/waiters are often too eager to serve tourists. Imagine getting to a restaurant, sitting down and all the waitress and waiter start surrounding u, waiting for u to order when u have not even looked at the menu!

5. 85% of the Thai uni school girls will put many Singapore girls to shame in terms of appearance.

6. There is no such thing as green tea in clubs. I once mentioned about mixing green tea with chivas or other alcohol and my friend gave me the "eeeks" look. Soda water rules in Thailand :)

7. In the Cinema before the movie starts, everyone have to stand up when they place a slideshow of the Thai king and the national anthem. Imagine standing up to sing Majuah Singapura and watching a slideshow of Lee Kwan Yew before every show. Cool!

I shall not go into further details of the trip. I believe there will be better ones worthly of mentioning in full coming up. The fact that the total number of pictures I snapped for this trip was just about 50 or 60 says it all. It was a very disappointing trip for a number of reasons.

I will be back for sure, within 2 or 3 months. And for now, I shall look forward to HongKong!

Sick Again!

Am I cursed or what? Why am I always sick with flu before BKK trips, arghhh really hate it. Worse still, the stupid medical officer (MO) in camp gave me light duties for 2 days instead of MC which I initialy thought so until I went back and open up and was shocked to see it was light duties for 2 days! If u still don't get it, it means I've awol and that's an offence which will get me charged. Stupid him, why the hell would I need light duties when my duties are already light enough? Anyway I guess I'd just treat it as nothing happened as I've already told my boss so and I'm really sick anyway.

Haven't been blogging as well as I'm basically polishing up my Thai and counting down to Friday which is finally coming! I still have so many things to do with so little time - i haven't visited the saloon, i haven't pack my lugguage, i haven't compile a list of thai addresses, i haven't compile a list of numbers belonging to my thai friends into my phone, i haven't charge my camera, blah blah, ok I'm whinning. Thats why I hate being sick at this time, can't do much!

Anyway this is for my dear bro dino, cheer up abit we will have lots of fun together in BKK and u will come back fresher and with a clearer mind!

Just another Friday

Tiring day today. Haven't managed to get enough sleep for the past 2 days, I'm officially declared sleep deprived! A quick run through to the events of the past 2 days.....

Wednesday
Met Joreen to go shop around for her D&D dress. Good to see her again after such a long time. Still the cute bubbly girl as ever and meeting her simply reminds me of the good old times in the past as well as why we broke up. Thats history anyway, we've both moved on.

Then I headed down to St James to meet Dino and Jeri and we headed down to Movida for Fiona's birthday party, and man it was a blast. I'm starting to develop some good vibes about the place. Live band seems to be my cup of tea these days. And needless to say, those 2 fellas got high and drunk again, especially Jeri - merlion in the toilet and sleep-walk all the way home. Nice...

Thursday
Struggled to wake up after reaching home at 6am the previous night from St James and end up sleeping at 7.30am after cooking myself some noodles. Dino called me at 12 and I dragged myself all the way to our colleague's house for some Indian lunch. I've had malay lunch during Hari Raya before but not Indian. So this was the first for me. Was looking forward to some curry but end up being unable to eat much thanks to an extremely dry throat. Really tired as well, struggled throughout the entire day.

Lunch ended early, some 3 or 4 hours before I was due to meet Grace for movies, so I headed to Kinokuniya and kill time. Struggled to keep my eyes open while reading. I found a really interesting book but the small little words were too much for my tired eyes. So I ended up learning some Thai language through an English-Thai dictionary. Saw 4 (IV) was kind of a disappointment. It started off very well, lots of blood and gore but slowly faded off. I was expecting more and it was disappointing at the end. I think the show could have done with more blood, horror and new traps. The moment the movie ended, we headed home and the stupid train was packed like a can of sardines and I ended up standing from Orchard all the way to Boon Lay in a half dead/sleep mode. Blah!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

And for today, I'm definitely staying home to catch up on my precious sleep. I'm even more tired after going jogging with the guys just now and it irks me to see my desk in a mess. Time for some cleaning up tomorrow. It's dinner and bed for now, just another boring Friday in a place call Singapore. Laters!
